A long-standing local tradition, the Humboldt Bay Symposium is a community-oriented conference and provides a unique opportunity for the general public to engage directly with scientists, managers, and local experts. It is a forum for learning about the latest developments on a variety of current issues related to the Humboldt Bay region including research and restoration of coastal ecosystems, economic development, and sustainable use and recreation.
The theme for the 2021 Symposium, “Sustainable Blue Economy,” highlights the importance of coastal and ocean resources in our region as well as the potential for synergy among existing and proposed future activities. This encompasses fishing, aquaculture, offshore energy, shipping, recreation, tourism, and ecological restoration. The conference will run from 10:00am to 2:30pm each day (with a lunch break from 12:00 to 12:30).
